KP Local Government Elections Put on Hold Until Further Notice

The Election Commission of Pakistan has postponed local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the federal government extended the suspension of Article 140-A across the province. The constitutional provision requires elected local governments and the transfer of political, administrative and financial powers to them. Meanwhile, the ECP scheduled the first phase of Punjab’s local government elections for February 7, 2027.
