Swiss voters went to the polls Sunday on a proposal seeking to strengthen the country’s traditional neutrality by defining it more strictly in the constitution. The initiative, backed by the pro-sovereignty Pro Switzerland group, would require neutrality to remain armed and permanent while limiting military alliances. Supporters say it would protect Switzerland’s long-standing position, while opponents argue it could restrict foreign policy options and closer cooperation with NATO.
