Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “viability as a leader” is “in jeopardy”, an annual unclassified threat assessment from the US intelligence community found. “Distrust of Netanyahu’s ability to rule has deepened and broadened across the public from its already high levels before the war, and we expect large protests demanding his resignation and new elections,” the report said. Netanyahu faced fierce criticism within Israel for his government’s failure to predict the October 7 attack by Hamas.
