Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared “there will be no Palestinian state” at a signing ceremony for a new West Bank settlement project. The E1 project approved by Israel’s government last month would build on ultra-sensitive land east of Jerusalem, eating into Palestinian territory. “We are going to fulfil our promise that there will be no Palestinian state. This place belongs to us,” said Mr Netanyahu, who bitterly opposes recognition of Palestine.
