Japan has issued tsunami alerts after a series of strong quakes in the Sea of Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency reported several quakes off the coast of Ishikawa and nearby prefectures shortly after 4:00 pm (0700 GMT) on Monday. One of the most powerful quakes had a magnitude of 7.5, according to USGS. In response, Japan issued a major tsunami warning for Ishikawa and lower-level tsunami warnings or advisories for the rest of the western coast of the island of Honshu.
