Libya’s top electoral body announced on Wednesday that the son and one-time heir apparent of the late Libyan despot Muammar Gaddafi was disqualified from running in presidential elections that are going to be held in December likely. The country’s High National Elections Committee declared Seif al-Islam Gaddafi ineligible because of previous convictions against him. He has the right to appeal the committee’s decision in court within the coming days.
