The leaders of Egypt and France agreed to increase their efforts to accomplish a ceasefire in Gaza in hopes that the Arab plan for the reconstruction of the enclave after a year and a half of Israeli hostilities can still come to fruition. During meetings in Cairo with French President Emanuel Macron on Monday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi declared that Egypt fully intends to host the conference it had announced in February to gather funds for the reconstruction of Gaza. “I presented the Arab plan for Gaza’s reconstruction to Mr Macron during our meeting. We agreed to co-ordinate our efforts with regards to the reconstruction conference which Egypt intends to host just as soon as hostilities in the strip have ceased,” Mr El Sisi said during a speech.
