K-Electric has applied to the National Electric Electricity Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for a Rs.3.45 per unit increase in power rate.

According to the information, K-Electric has sought a power price increase to account for the monthly fuel cost adjustment for September. The Nepra has scheduled a hearing on K-Electric’s proposal for November 3.

If the NEPRA grants the K-Electric petition, power users would face an extra burden of billions of rupees.
