Implementing Israel’s ban on the UN agency for Palestinian refugees – due to come into effect on Thursday – will be disastrous, UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini told the Security Council on Tuesday. He spoke after the US accused UNRWA of being “irresponsible and dangerous” and as Israel ruled out reversing the ban. “UNRWA must cease its operations and evacuate all premises it operates in Jerusalem, including the properties located in Maalot Dafna and Kafr Aqab,” Israel’s UN ambassador Danny Danon told the council.
