Concerns have deepened over the safety of Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, director of the Kamala Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, after the Israeli army denied having any record of his detention. The Israeli army’s response came when Physicians for Human Rights, acting on behalf of Dr Abu Safiya’s family, submitted a request to allow a lawyer to visit him. Dr Abu Safiya was detained by Israeli forces during a raid on the hospital on December 27.
