Israel has claimed to have killed Hamas commander Rafa’a Salameh during attacks on the Al Mawasi area of Khan Younis on Saturday, when 90 civilians were killed. Israel said that Mr Salameh is one of the “closest associates” of wanted commander Mohammed Deif, whom it said had also killed. Hamas has denied Mr Deif’s death and did not confirm the death of Mr Salameh.
