Israel described the vast majority of West Bank settlers as “law-abiding” and said it dealt with those who were not. It was an indication of dissatisfaction from Israel as Washington increased sanctions against settlers accused of having attacked Palestinians. “Israel takes action against all lawbreakers everywhere, and therefore there is no need for unusual measures on the issue,” a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said.
