Residents of Khan Younis reported intensifying gun battles between Hamas fighters and Israeli forces in the central and eastern districts of Gaza city. Gazan health officials said that 12 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike on a house in the city. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees says more than 60 percent of the enclave’s infrastructure has been destroyed or damaged since the war began, with more than 90 percent of its 2.3 million population uprooted.
