Israel approved the closure of the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen channel, Israel Broadcasting Authority reported. The proposal for shutting down the network was put forward by Israel’s Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi. Late on Sunday, its director Nasser al-Laham said Al-Mayadeen would have continued to broadcast “whatever the cabinet’s decision”, he was quoted as saying on the channel’s website.
