Iran will soon join the New Development Bank, established by BRICS nations, central bank governor Abdolnaser Hemmati said ahead of a BRICS finance meeting in India. Tehran, facing sweeping US and international sanctions, seeks alternative financial channels outside the dollar system. Iran joined BRICS in 2024 and has since sought NDB membership and shares.
