Whether Iran will include its ally Lebanon in a possible deal to end the war with the US remains “one of the big questions”, says Mohamad Elmasry, a professor at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. “My sense is that Iran is going to demand a kind of non-aggression pact that would have to include America’s ally Israel,” Elmasry told Al Jazeera. Israel’s pursuit of the “Greater Israel” expansionist project includes taking over swaths of Lebanese land south of the Litani River, he noted.
