“Intense talks” were taking place to secure the release of hostages held in Gaza by Hamas, French President Emmanuel Macron has said. He spoke after the mother of a French Israeli woman taken hostage by the militants in their deadly October 7 assault on Israeli settlements begged world leaders to intervene. “I want to be very cautious here, so as not to endanger the intense talks we are currently conducting,” Macron told reporters in the Albanian capital Tirana.
