An Indian man who killed his wife with a cobra and a viper has been sentenced to a rare double life sentence, labeled “the rarest instance” by the prosecution.
According to the South Kerala state prosecutor, Suraj Kumar, 28, threw an extremely deadly Russell’s viper snake at his wife Uthra, placing her in the hospital for approximately two months. He acquired a cobra from the snake handler and threw it at his sleeping wife when she recovered at her parents’ house. The deadly bite of the snake killed the 25-year-old lady in May 2020.
