A recent report from Haaretz newspaper revealed that amid October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel, an Israeli military helicopter hit festival participants while engaging Palestinian fighters. The Israeli security assessment, based on an investigation by police with arrested Hamas gunmen, suggested that the attackers had no prior information about the festival held near Kibbutz Re’im, close to the Gaza border. During the attack, Israeli forces encountered difficulty identifying Hamas fighters, prompting helicopter pilots to use artillery against festival participants.
