Yemen’s Houthi rebels said they will attack Israeli ships anywhere, including in the eastern Mediterranean, as they intensified their campaign against international shipping. “We will target any ships heading to Israeli ports in the Mediterranean Sea in any area we are able to reach,” said the Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree in a televised speech. Mr Saree made the threat as he announced the “fourth stage of escalation” in the Iran-backed group’s campaign against shipping, which it says is in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
