The Houthis have said they launched a missile on Sunday at an Israeli-owned tanker sailing south-west of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea port city of Yanbu. The attack on the vessel Scarlet Ray came a day after an Israeli attack on Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, that killed the prime minister of the Houthis and other senior officials, prompting the rebel group to vow revenge. British maritime security firm Ambrey said Scarlet Ray, a Liberia-flagged ship, had reported an explosion nearby its location. The crew reported “a splash in close proximity from an unknown projectile and heard a loud bang”, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations said.
