The Iran-backed Houthi rebels said they launched missiles at American Bulk carrier vessel Star Iris while it was sailing in the Red Sea. “The naval forces of the Yemeni armed forces targeted the American ship Star Iris in the Red Sea with a number of suitable naval missiles, and the strikes were accurate and direct,” Yahya Saree, a spokesman for the Yemeni militia, said in a statement. The Houthis acted “in response to their religious, moral and humanitarian duty”, he said, before warning that attacks on Red Sea shipping would continue “until the aggression stops and the siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted”.
