Escalating Houthi attacks in the Red Sea represent a “clear danger” to seafarers and pose a greater threat to marine safety than piracy, as per a UAE expert. Capt Zarir Irani, managing director of Constellation Marine Services, a Dubai-based surveyor, said commercial vessels operating in the major trading route may have to consider “turning back”. “It’s not fair on the crew. Everyone is aware of where the voyages are going, all ships are connected,” said Capt Irani in an interview on Dubai Eye’s Business Breakfast radio show.
