Hormuz Control Under Military: Iranian Lawmaker

Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei says a proposed security plan would place management, monitoring and inspections of the Strait of Hormuz exclusively under Iran and its military, according to Al Jazeera, citing IRIB. The plan would ban vessels considered hostile, involved in espionage or threatening Iran’s national security. Iran’s military would also set transit fees and service charges. Rezaei warned Tehran could raise tariffs or seize assets belonging to states it holds responsible if Iranian interests are harmed elsewhere.
