Professor Shahid Rasool of Jinnah Sindh Medical University said on Thursday that the government may have to impose a lockdown in Karachi due to a rapid increase of COVID-19 cases during the previous few days, highlighting the importance of raising vaccination rates.

Shahid Rasool, speaking exclusively to Geo News, claimed the low vaccination rate was the main reason for the city’s rising number of Omicron cases. Only 40% of the eligible population is vaccinated against the virus, according to him.
