US Vice President Kamala Harris pledged to secure a Gaza ceasefire and the release of hostages. “Now is the time to get a hostage deal and a ceasefire deal done,” she told supporters at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Addressing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, she said that “as president I will stand strong with Ukraine and our Nato allies”.
