Hamas has rejected statements by US President Joe Biden that the movement was backing away from a deal with Israel to agree on a ceasefire in the war in Gaza hours after Secretary of State Antony Blinken called on Hamas to accept a proposal that was recently put forward. “Israel says they can work it out… Hamas is now backing away,” Biden stated. Hamas said that statement by Mr Biden was “misleading” and do not reflect the movement’s real position, which is focused on reaching a ceasefire.
