Transgender Alliance head Farzana Jan told a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday that the growing incidents of violence against the transgender community had caused many of its members to leave Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

On the occasion, transgender community members Mahi Gul and Ghazala said that powerful individuals were participating in violence against them, but police were hesitant to take action against the accused.

“We are not safe in Peshawar, not even in the presence of police,” they complained.
