On Friday, Hammad Azhar, Energy Minister, disclosed that the government is aimed at introducing a new pricing mechanism for billing for imported gas. All ongoing schemes would be stopped until the new legislation be approved. “Local gas reserves [are] depleting at a rate of 9pc per annum. Govt does not have a legal mechanism to collect costs of imported gas from consumers,” he tweeted.
