The case of the arrest of an Israeli footballer is escalating the rhetoric between Israel and Turkey with Defence Minister Yoav Gallant calling the Turkish government the “executive arm of Hamas”. “The scandalous arrest of the footballer Sagiv Jehezkel is an expression of hypocrisy and coercion. In its actions, Turkey serves as the executive arm of Hamas,” he was quoted as saying by Israeli news site Ynet.
