The French government must take stronger measures against Israel or risk further accusations of double standards, according to 35 former French ambassadors. Writing an op-ed in daily newspaper Le Monde, they called on France to work with partners to stop the war, suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement, and ban all weapons exports to Israel. They also called for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is subject to an ICC arrest warrant, to be banned from French territory. “We must reconnect with our defence of international law on the emblematic issues of the Middle East, thus contributing to the reconstruction of an international system undermined by a crisis of confidence,” the ex-ambassadors wrote.
