GCC General Secretary Jasem Albudaiwi criticised a US decision to veto a bid to recognise Palestine as a full member of the UN. Mr Albudaiwi said this was a step backwards in efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East. He repeated the GCC’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders, with occupied East Jerusalem as its capital.
