The Global Security Forum opened in Doha on Monday, with the Qatari Prime Minister calling for solutions to the world’s conflicts and stressing the urgent need for a political resolution in Palestine. “Collective punishment never brought results,” said Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who is also Qatar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. Sheikh Mohammed touched on Qatari efforts at mediating a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, saying that “mediation to end conflicts has become a pillar of our foreign policy”.
