The payment is the third tranche of “non-repayable grants and loans to Ukraine under the Ukraine facility”, the EU Council has said, referring to the bloc’s financial aid programme for the country. “With this third disbursement, Ukraine will have received close to €20 billion ($21.8bn) under the Ukraine Facility since its entry into force a year ago,” it added in a statement. Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said the funds will “help strengthen our country’s resilience”.
