This last week, diplomatic regional engagement has gained momentum, with Qatari, Pakistani and Omani officials in Tehran for negotiations. We know that these visits are critically important, particularly because the Pakistani delegation was headed by the country’s army chief and Islamabad has played an important mediatory role, carrying messages between Tehran and Washington. Meanwhile, the Omani foreign minister has paid a visit to Tehran. Bilateral relations have become critically important between the two regarding arrangements for reopening the strait.
