Cyrus Schayegh, professor of international history and politics at the Geneva Graduate Institute, says that compared with other US wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the war with Iran is “more important” as it has shifted the balance of power. “This is the basic problem that we are facing right now in different chapters. There was a war, then military confrontations, now there are economic sanctions, then there are diplomatic attempts,” Schayegh told Al Jazeera.
