Almaty: On Jan 6, fresh violence fumed in Kazakhstan’s main city after Russia rushed in paratroopers overnight to control a countrywide uprising in the former Soviet state. Police in the Almaty reported that they had killed dozens of rebels overnight. According to the state television, at least 13 members of the security forces had died, including two found beheaded. The interior ministry said that almost 2,000 people had been arrested.
