US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that he welcomed Israel’s agreement to carry out temporary pauses in its strikes on Gaza, but called for more to be done. “Far too many Palestinians have been killed, far too many who suffered these past weeks, and we want to do everything possible to prevent harm to them and to maximise the assistance that gets to them,” Mr Blinken said. “These steps will save lives and enable more assistance to get to Palestinians in need,” he added.
