Tokyo: On May 23, U.S. President Joe Biden said that he would be inclined to use force to defend Taiwan against Chinese aggression. The comment was seemingly made to stretch the limits of the ambiguous U.S. policy toward the self-governed island. A reporter inquired Biden if the United States would defend Taiwan if it were attacked. “Yes,” the president answered at a joint news conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo.
