Authorities were investigating after the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported an incident off the coast of Eritrea on Tuesday morning. The agency claimed that it had received reports of a small craft circling a vessel in the Red Sea, about 57 nautical miles from the Eritrean port city of Assab. Vessel and crew were reported to be safe and are proceeding to their next port after security personnel on the ship “fired warning shots and small craft departed”, it said.
