Aid agencies called on the UN Security Council to “reconvene” and pass resolution on a ceasefire in Gaza after a US veto last night blocked one. “We are appalled at the failure of the UN Security Council to authorize a resolution demanding a humanitarian ceasefire and unconditional release of hostages held in Gaza,” said the statement from seven aid agencies including Save The Children, Oxfam, Norwegian Refugee Council, Plan International, Action Against Hunger, Mercy Corps and Care International. The joint statement said if implemented, the resolution would have provided much-needed respite for civilians in Gaza who are under constant bombardment.
