Punjab Education Minister Murad Ras has ordered that boys wear caps and girls wear dupattas or scarves in government schools. He also urged that private schools enforce the new dress code during a press conference.

He said that the Quran was being taught in schools for the first time in Pakistan’s history. He stated that pupils in grades 1 to 5 would be taught Naazra Quran (reading) and students in grades 6 to 12 would be taught translation and explanation.
