The major cities of Punjab, including the province capital, were shrouded in deep smog on Saturday, interrupting daily life as residents struggled to cope with the extreme weather.

Overall, Lahore’s air quality index (AQI) was 328; however, the worst air quality was recorded in Walton area 463, followed by Upper Mall 434, Model Town 434, Anarkali 398, Bahria Orchard 376, and Canal Road 352.

Authorities, on the other hand, have decided to form an Anti-Smog Task Force. According to the government’s plan, five special squads will be formed, consisting of police officers, environment inspectors, WASA, MCL, and industry representatives.
