In an essay written for British Vogue, Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai laid bare the reason for her wariness towards the institution of marriage. She wrote that her best friend turned better half, Asser Malik, made her embrace it. Her reluctance never curbed from being against the institution entirely but its ‘patriarchal roots’ made her dubious of it.
