UN Warns Afghanistan War Victims Remain Forgotten

KABUL: The United Nations has warned that many civilian victims of Afghanistan’s two-decade war remain without justice, compensation or recognition. UNAMA said tens of thousands of civilians were killed or wounded between 2001 and 2021 in attacks and military operations involving the Taliban, Islamic State and Afghan or international forces. Survivors continue to face psychological trauma, financial hardship and disrupted lives. One victim, Mohammad, said the world had forgotten those affected by the conflict.
