The ceasefire extension between Israel and Lebanon is significant because it shows “all parties still have value in containing escalation and keeping diplomatic channels open”, Rania Kisar, director of research at the American Center for Levant Studies, stated. However, this should not be mistaken for a stable or lasting resolution, as what we’re seeing is “a fragile containment framework operating alongside continued military pressure on the ground”, she added.
