Israel said it launched airstrikes on sites tied to Iran’s nuclear and weapons programmes, with over 50 jets hitting targets in Arak and Yazd. According to the statement, the strikes were carried out in three waves over several hours. It said that among the targets was the heavy water plant in Arak, which it described as a major site for producing plutonium used in nuclear weapons. The Israeli army also said it struck a facility in Yazd that it claimed is used to produce explosive materials involved in the uranium enrichment process. There was no immediate comment from Iran.
