Netanyahu has been waiting for decades for a US president who would go to war with Iran, so he is unlikely to be at odds with Trump publicly. But behind closed doors, there is a lot of lobbying. From the start, there has been a difference between US and Israeli goals in this war. It seems now that these differences are showing to the public. Israeli media have been calling Trump’s remarks “conflicting” because the president’s advisors have told him they’re not winning the war the way they wanted. They expected Iran to fall quickly but that was not the case.
