Iran’s Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh has warned that the government is using all its capabilities to “suppress the savage armed terrorists” it claims are behind the unrest, in comments broadcast on Iranian state television. In a briefing, Nasirzadeh said that the “designers and executors of the riots should know that we are monitoring them”. The government had “exercised restraint” in its response so far, he said.
