The Hadramout Grand Conference, a political forum of Yemeni groups in eastern Yemen who are independent from both the STC and central authorities, says it appreciates the role being played by the Saudi-led coalition to “establish security and stability”. “Any security or military arrangements must be exclusively carried out through legitimate state institutions and in coordination with the leadership of the Arab coalition,” the organisation said in a statement, adding that the security of Hadramout and al-Mahra remains a “red line”. The Supreme Council of Popular Resistance in Yemen, an umbrella body of local armed groups mobilised to fight the Iran-backed Houthis alongside the internationally-recognised government, said its members welcome the declaration of emergency conditions and the move against the UAE.
